Press Ctrl-Shift-J (Win) or Command-Shift-J (Mac) to open the Property inspector 2. Press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-T (Win) or Command-Option-Shift-T (Mac) to add a selected layer or image to the timeline. 3. Alt-click (Win) or Option-click (Mac) inside a frame to select it. _______ ADVANCED TECHNIQUES _______________________________ Creating an external style sheet An external style sheet allows different pages in your web site to be controlled by the same styles, ensuring a uniform look and feel throughout. One method of creating an external style sheet is documented in the Dreamweaver HTML Help Pages. Here's another: 1. Create any number of styles in the current document. 2. Choose Window > Styles to open the Style palette, then click the Edit Style Sheet button. 3. Hold down the Ctrl key (Win) or the Option key (Mac) and click Done. 4. In the dialog box that appears, name your style sheet (make sure to use .css as the file extension), browse to a location to save the stylesheet, and click Save. An external style sheet is created from the styles in the current document. Note: If you want to control the appearance of the current document with the external style sheet, delete the style declaration block from head using the HTML inspector. Applying class styles Right-click (Win) or Control-click (Mac) on a tag in the tag selector at the bottom left corner of the Document window, and choose a class style from the shortcut menu. Converting styles to HTML markup for older browsers Style sheets are only recognizable by Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 and later and Netscape Navigator 4.0 and later. Luckily, Dreamweaver 1.2 lets you convert styles to HTML markup that is visible in a wide range of browsers. 1. Open a page that uses styles. 2. Choose File > Convert > 3.0 Browser Compatible and click OK. Dreamweaver creates a new document that uses HTML markup in place of the styles. _______ ANNOUNCEMENTS _____________________________________ New articles in the Dreamweaver Developers Center: Table basics Are you tangled in TDs?
